Kazi Md. Salim Newaz, Ph.D.,
Professor, Department of Mechanical
Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. He has 18 years engineering service experience in petrochemical industries where he worked as senior Engineer in plants and Head of Engineering and
Construction of chemical plants.
He worked as a part-time
consultant of different International Consulting Companies, where he worked in a consulting team for gas pipelines layout and installation, gas drilling environment management, air conditioning, Chemical plant design and installation, vibration analysis for machinery protection, plant maintenance
etc.

He has the academic background with B. Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical), Master of Science
in Engineering, Master of
Engineering and Ph. D. in
Heat transfer and Fouling
Mitigation

(Chemical and Materials Engineering). He received his Ph.D. degree from The University of Auckland in 2002. He started his service in the University of Malaya in 2009. He had introduced sophisticated
research approaches on heat
transfer to two phase flow
and particle characterization, heat exchanger fouling and corrosion mitigation, separation flow, nanofluid synthesis and application as heat exchanging liquids. He has developed his laboratories to full blown research laboratories. Later he acquired government and International Grants and then also became leader of a group of academics for research and
innovation.

So far he has completed supervision of 22 Ph.D. and 24 Master theses. He has published 250 technical papers in national and international Journals and conference proceedings. He has also published 10 technical book chapters and edited 4 Engineering books. He has participated in 29 Engineering International
Conferences, Congresses and facilitated
workshop in The Malaysian Institute of Engineers. He has given keynote speech and speech as invited speaker at Liverpool John Moores University, 2016 and Yildiz Technical University at Istanbul, (ICETE) 2017 respectively. He delivered a keynote speech on Energy transportation enhancement in heat exchanging equipment and mitigation of heat exchanger fouling with the application of nanoparticles,
in 5th RSU Research Conference, 2020 at Thailand. He has filed seven patents. He received
a few awards as recognition
of his contribution in
research and innovation. He is
an active member of editorial board of a few International Journals. He has evaluated many Ph.D. and Masters Theses as Examiner. He has developed an active research network both in home and abroad which contributed to upgrade the name and fame of the University where he works.
